Central Montana Head Start is a nurturing and supportive non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening and empowering children, families, and communities.
We proudly serve Fergus, Musselshell, and Wheatland Counties, providing vital early education and support services that set the foundation for lifelong success. Our center-based programs are located in Lewistown, Roundup, and Harlowton, offering engaging and enriching classroom experiences for children from August through May.

Head Start provides a range of family support services to strengthen families and help them achieve self-sufficiency. These services are designed to empower families, support their well-being, and enhance the child’s learning experience.
- Home Visits & Parent Meetings: Regular visits and meetings with families to discuss children's progress and set goals.
- Parent-Teacher Conferences: Opportunities for parents to be involved in their child's educational progress.
- Family Needs Assessment: Identifying and addressing specific needs, such as housing, transportation, or emotional support.
- Parent Workshops: Sessions on child development, effective parenting strategies, and family wellness.
- Literacy & Life Skills: Helping parents develop skills that improve their quality of life, like literacy, financial planning, and time management.
- Parent Involvement in Governance: Participation in Policy Councils and school events to have a voice in decisions.
- GED & Higher Education Support: Connecting parents to educational programs that increase their earning potential.
- Health Referrals & Follow-Up: Connecting families with services like mental health support, substance abuse counseling, or medical care.
- Housing & Food Support: Referrals to agencies that provide emergency housing, food assistance, or childcare.
- Crisis Intervention: Providing help to families experiencing homelessness, domestic violence, or other crisis situations.
Our Mission
The Board of Directors is a governing body responsible for overseeing and ensuring the success of a Head Start program. It works alongside the Policy Council and program leadership to uphold federal regulations, financial integrity, and overall program quality.
